The Action Management System has
been designed on the basic premise that every user of
AMS has "accountability" for some element of the
business.
No matter how small or how large this
element is, reviewing its performance is an essential component
required for a user to achieve personal satisfaction within the
business. Recognition of a user's "contribution to the business"
fosters both teamwork and a strong organisational
culture.
Remember: "People do what you INSPECT
...... not what you EXPECT"
Whatever the level of "accountability" is
assigned to a user, every user needs to understand how their
success will be assessed. Therefore a "measure" and a "target"
should be established for the Operational Actions for which a user
is accountable. These measures and targets are achieved with the
use of "tools" given to the user. These tools provide the
"method" by which the individual can achieve the targets (in
their User 5x5) for which they are accountable. If
the "tools" provided are inadequate (for the user to achieve
their targets) then these tools must be improved before any higher
targets can be set.
Regular user reviews and
discussions should therefore be conducted with all users to
confirm that they are able to reach their targets with the tools
that they have available. AMS provides all users with a direct
access method to all of the tools, documents, procedures, and
knowledge required by them to reach their goals.
