AMS  Release Notes
(Software Maintenance Release 1.43 - Nov 2006)

Internet-AMS Software Release 1.43 updates the Action Management System (AMS) with improved usability changes and enhancements to Base Release 1.4 plus adds new capabilities in the areas of management reporting.

Summary of Updates:
1. Usability Improvements.
2. Addition of an extra Description field into a Job 5x5 Action.
3. Updating of the Report Scheduler.
4. Additional Management Reports.
5. Simplification of Knowledge directories and access.

(1) Usability Improvements.

Some enhancements have been implemented to improve usability. These have mainly been around better field description and user notations on various forms. Some fields on some forms have also been made mandatory so that new reports are always properly populated. The most notable of these minor form changes is on the New Incident form.

(2) Addition of an extra Description field into a Job 5x5 Action.

Within a Job 5x5 Action we have added a new "Description" field that allows the optional addition of a more detailed explanation of an individual Job Action within the Job 5x5. This is an optional field (i.e. the field does not need to be populated if the shorter Job Action description is sufficient).

(3) Updating of the Reporting System
      (Systems Administrator access only).

The Report Scheduler has been updated for additional functionality. The Report Scheduler allows the customised creation of automatically activated reporting tasks that are run by AMS according to customised activation and report distribution criteria. The Automatic Activation criteria is set by the Systems Administrator to deliver reports Once Only, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or on a Special Timing basis. Reports are distributed as a PDF file attached to any email address, or can be delivered to the Action Reminder page of any User, or a combination of both.

A "filter" capability has also been introduced to the Report Logging menu so that a Systems Administrator can make queries on reports generated based on a combination of parameters (e.g. dates, user, report name, etc).

A "Report Uploading" capability has been introduced so that AMS clients can develop their own customised Crystal Reports and add these into their own AMS. This capability also allows a client to upload their own logo to be printed on the top-left of all AMS reports in place of the default Action Management logo. Special logo-naming conventions are required to implement this functionality and Systems Administrators should contact The Management Practice for details and training before activating Report Uploading.

(4) Additional Management Reports.

Eight (8) new reports have been made available in AMS Release 1.43.
Reports are now categorised as "Standard" or "Selectable".

Standard Reports are included and integrated into AMS at no charge.
Selectable Reports are available for inclusion for an one-time purchase cost of $120 per  report (excluding GST).

With Release 1.43 the Standard Reports now included in AMS are as follows:
<> Strategic Business Report
<> Improvement Audit Report
<> Project Summary Report
<> Overdue Project Action Report
<> Incident Item Status Report
<> 30-Day Job Action Review Planner

Selectable Reports now optionally available are as follows:
<> Business DNA Summary Report
<> All Projects Overdue Actions Report
<> Open Incidents Log
<> Incidents Overdue Report
<> Annual Appraisal Calendar
<> Performance Appraisal Report

A PDF document detailing current reporting available in AMS, including descriptions and samples of all reports, can be downloaded from Operational Reports Guide.

(5) Simplification of Knowledge Directories and Access.

AMS business knowledge is stored and linked to the Business DNA Knowledge and staff can add their own confidential knowledge to their own Job 5x5.

A new "All Knowledge" TAB has been therefore added to the Job 5x5 Action forms.
If the "All Knowledge" TAB is selected, then a list of the total knowledge that has been uploaded or linked to the open Job 5x5 will be displayed. A sub-set of this knowledge only associated with an individual Job 5x5 Action can also be displayed.

So the main-menu selection of AMS/Search All Business/List Knowledge now excludes the knowledge items uploaded or linked to any Job 5x5 thus avoiding duplications of entries and displaying of personal knowledge that is specific or confidential to any Job. The List Knowledge menu item now lists only knowledge that has been uploaded or linked to the Business DNA.

This simplification enables an employee to now link any document to their Job 5x5 and to view knowledge within the context that it applies.
