AMS  Release Notes
( Software Release 1.2 - September 2005)

We are proud to announce the production release of the Internet Action Management System (AMS). This system has been in "beta" test (Releases 1.0 & 1.1) with selected clients since July 2005 and we are now releasing Release 1.2 into production.

The Internet-AMS is modeled on the Excel-AMS but we have added substantially to the functionality of AMS as the new system is now built on a true relational database (Cache) and is also fully multi-user. The Internet-AMS is only supported on Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 1.6 and above.

The new architecture of Internet-AMS will allow our clients to obtain a huge variety of reports based on any of the data within the AMS Cache database.
We have retained all of the functionality of the Excel-based system:
<> Online Assistant
<> Business DNA (view-on-a-page)
<> Risk Assessment
<> Accountability cascading
<> Job 5x5 (view-on-a-page)
<> Improvement Audits
<> Knowledge Directory
<> Improvement Projects
<> Ideas & Recommendation
<> Targets & Measures

We have also been able to build in the new functionality that is listed below that has only been possible with a true multi-user system. Such functions as;
<1>   Multi-user Security.
<2>   Transaction Logging.
<3>   Action Reminder and Email generation.
<4>   Project Management.
<5>   Incident Management.
<6>   Cross-organisational Searching.
<7>   Organisational HR Structuring.
<8>   Performance Reviewing.
<9>   Strategic Planning.
<10> Vastly improved "field level" Online Help.
<11> Online User Training.

(1) User Security.

All users now have secure access via a Username and Password to use the Internet AMS. Certain functions are now restricted to certain users. For example a Systems Administration user category has been introduced so that each client can customise certain business functions. Also because usernames are held within AMS then certain standard functions can be restricted to certain users. For example a manager can gain access to the Job 5x5's of all staff that reports to them, but staff cannot gain access to the Job 5x5's of managers or other staff.

(2) Transaction Logging.

There is now a comprehensive transaction modification log kept of every change, addition, or deletion made to any data within the AMS. All the before and after data is stored and logged against the actual user who made the changes and transaction reports can be generated by the Client Systems Administrator at any time to resolve disputed data entry or security infringements.

(3) Action Reminder and Email generation.

Action Reminders and/or Emails can be automatically generated by AMS for any staff member for any item that has a "due date". This functionality has been initially introduced into Project Actions, Incidents, and Staff Reviews.

(4) Project Management.

The recording of Improvement Projects has been vastly enhanced from a simple directory link to a static project within the Excel-AMS to a dynamic management system to implement these Projects. Comprehensive "project management" functionality is now built into the Internet AMS

(5) Incident Management.

Ad hoc Incident Management has been introduced. This functionality enables any staff member to lodge or log an incident that requires resolution. Each incident is allocated to a person for resolution by a due date and the progress of each incident can be tracked online. Incidents are categorised and reports can be generated on vast array of incident characteristics.

(6) Cross-organisational Searching.

All data and knowledge within AMS can now be searched by key-word across the entire business. This creates an environment of transparency and data access that fosters high levels of personal productivity and efficiency.

(7) Organisational HR Structuring.

A hierarchy of staff has been introduced so that levels of access and security can be introduced easily. This is particularly important in the area of staff reviews and the flexible  monitoring and managing of individual performance. Every user of the Internet-AMS "reports to" someone who has access to any measures and targets that may have been set, and this person is then responsible for reviewing their performance.

(8) Performance Reviewing

Extensive "performance management" can be undertaken within the Internet-AMS. The level of this is determined by the business or the individuals themselves. Online monitoring and performance notational interchange is available between all managers and the staff for whom they have been assigned performance management responsibility. Action Reminders are generated to both manager and staff member if a due date for a review of any Job Action has been set.

(9) Strategic Planning.

The top two (2) levels of the Business DNA have been designated as "strategic" within the Internet-AMS. This combination of Level-1 and Level-2 actions creates the Business 5x5. This 25 x Strategic Action view can now have a written "strategy" assigned to each of these 25 x Actions thus forming a simple "Strategic View" of the business that may be the actual Strategic Plan of the business, or simply an extract that has been created for transparent access by all staff. The Strategic Business 5x5 is available for viewing by all users of the Internet-AMS.

(10) "Field-level" Online Help

Online Help has been extensively enhanced in the Internet-AMS. A [?] button is present in the header of most application pages that gives an overview of the functionality of the entire page, and all fields on any input form of AMS now have context help. Just click on any field and press F1.

(11) Online User Training.

The Internet-AMS has online access to "How to use AMS" and an AMS User Training Manual forms part of the knowledge of all AMS implementations. This manual that can activated online or can be printed out for self-paced learning.
